Rangers FC suffered their first loss of the new Premiership season as they went down 2-0 to arch-rivals Celtic this weekend.

Celtic opened the scoring through Edouard and then it was Jonny Hayes who added the second deep into the second-half injury time.

And this loss now means the Bhoys sit pretty on top of the Premiership table with 12 points while the Gers are on second spot with nine points.

Many pundits have claimed that this embarrassing loss might be a bit of a setback to Rangers especially since they had had such a good summer transfer window and also made a fine start in Europe.

But according to Borna Barisic, the Old Firm Derby loss means very little in the context of the whole season as Rangers are still eyeing a title challenge.

He said(as quoted by the Herald): “The Celtic defeat was only one game – it doesn’t change anything.

“We had started the season really well. We got through all our matches in Europe and were thrilled to get to the Group Stages.

“We also won all our matches in the league. We were playing really well, everyone was happy, but then we lost to Celtic.

“But no one can say they outplayed us in the game. They got the second goal when we were attacking to try and get an equaliser.

“This year we are very much going for the title.”

Last season, Celtic ran away with the title as they won the Premiership with a margin of nine points but this time things are bound to be different.

Gerrard has identified the weaknesses in his side throughout last year and this summer he has worked hard to patch up those problematic areas.

And the results are for all to see as Rangers look a much more cohesive unit but whether they will be able to end the dominance of Celtic is for all to see.
