Liverpool beat Wolves 2-0 at home in the Premier League on Sunday but unfortunately, that was not enough for them to win the trophy.

Man City picked up a 4-1 win over Brighton on the very same day which meant Pep Guardiola’s men were able to snatch the trophy with just a single point.

This clearly was a huge blow for all the Liverpool players given that they had lost only a single game this season in the league. But somehow even that was not enough for them to secure their first EPL trophy in close to three decades.

Thankfully though, the season is not over for Liverpool just yet as they still need to play the Champions League final against Spurs early next month.

And Van Dijk claims that he is planning to channel all the positive energy form this season into winning the holy grail of European football.

“Congratulations to City, they deserved it by one point. And it was a great title race, and I’ve enjoyed every bit of it,” Van Dijk said.

“But we have to look on the positive side and remember we are still in Madrid, hopefully, we can end the season on a high. That’s what we are going to try and do.

“Frustrated is the right word, I think we are all going to be a little disappointed because we are so close. To get 97 points, to play football like we have played all season, we have to be very, very proud.

“I don’t care about another opinion, but we work so hard every day to be challenging to be as close as possible, but City were just a tiny little bit better than us, and that’s football as well.

“It doesn’t mean it is all over. We take a lot of things with us, we will take this on, and hopefully, we can challenge next year and do even better.”

If Liverpool can manage to win the Champions League next month then surely it will be considered a successful season given that Jurgen Klopp would have lifted his first trophy since he took charge of the club.
