Arsenal appointed Mikel Arteta as their new manager back in December after the club sacked Unai Emery. And since then, the Spaniard has done a more than decent job.

The Gunners chose to walk on the footsteps of Man United and Chelsea who had already named their former players as their new bosses but amongst this lot, perhaps Mikel Arteta is the most experienced, having worked with Pep Guardiola for a number of years at Man City.

And while speaking about the qualities of Mikel Arteta, David Luiz has explained how his long-standing dream of playing under Guardiola has now been fulfilled.

“I am grateful because I made another dream come true. Not in a concrete way, but in a different way. I always had the dream of working with [Pep] Guardiola,” Luiz told ESPN Brasil, via Football London.

“I couldn’t work with him, but I’m having the opportunity to work with a person who grew up and learned and was victorious with him, who has the same ideas. So, in a way, I’m making a dream come true.”

Apart from comparing him with the Man City boss, Luiz also pointed out that one of the first things which Mikel Arteta did after arriving was to bring everyone together at the club.

“The thing that impressed me the most was that the day he arrived, he brought the whole club together, not just the players.

“And I would like the club to walk together, with the same ideas, the same purpose, the same oxygen. Let everyone understand why we were there, who we were representing and the way we were supposed to do it.

“Since that first meeting, I saw, breathed and said: now I understand why I am here. Since then, I have been enchanted by the form and conduct he had.”

Mikel Arteta has been a tough talker ever since he took charge of Arsenal and up until now, he has done a fairly good job at backing his statements. The manager has a very clear vision and whoever cannot live up to those expectations will be shown the door.

But having said all these, Areta is still taking baby steps at the club and his first big challenge will come once he has to dive into the transfer market and sign the aptest players on a relatively tight transfer budget.
