Man United suffered their first defeat of the season as they went down 2-1 to Crystal Palace at home this past weekend.

Palace took a lead in the first half through Jordan Ayew and for the rest of the game, Man United were doing catchup. And it looked like they had finally been able to rescue a point after Daniel James scored a beautiful goal on the 89th minute.

But as Ole’s men were trying to force a winner in injury time, it was Palace who managed to hit out on the counter and tip the scoreline in their favour.

Man United failed to score a penalty for the second game in a row with Marcus Rashford hitting the upright this time around and speaking after the game, the manager has revealed that his team will need to get used to playing with VAR watching over games.

“There were a few other [penalties we should have been given], definitely,” the manager said.

“I think we were unlucky with the [Anthony] Martial one as we felt it was a clear and obvious penalty, a nailed-on one.

“I am surprised [VAR didn’t intervene] because it was definitely a nailed-on penalty. He will not slip if he doesn’t have a 100kg centre-back on his shoulders.

“I don’t want to go on about decisions all the time, but he[Martial] was clear and through on goal, one-on-one, and [the foul] stops a goalscoring opportunity. For me, it is no doubt.

“We have to get used to it. There will be discussions because it’s the same referees making those decisions, just in a different room down at Stockley Park.

“Sometimes, I think they are making wrong decisions and sometimes they’ve done well. It will work itself out and find its way.”

This is not the first time that a manager has spoken out about VAR and its implementation in the Premier League with many people clearly against the idea.

But with the technology here to stay, it would be easier is all the managers took it in their strides and moved on with actually playing the game with honesty.
