Arsenal suffered yet another defeat, this time losing to Chelsea in the Premier League at the Emirates.

The Gunners took the lead early on in the match but the Blues scored two goals in quick succession towards the end of the match in order to secure all three points.

The loss means that Arsenal are now 12th on the league table and are winless in their last four matches. Also to make matters worse, Mikel Arteta’s men will take on Manchester United in midweek – a match in which they could once again drop points.

And speaking after the 2-1 loss, Arteta has made it clear that his team is to blame for the defeat despite putting in a fine shift for most of the match.

The new Arsenal boss told in his post-match press conference: “I blame my team. We are responsible for everything we did wrong on that football pitch.

“The decisions we didn’t get right, obviously. The other things we cannot control or change them now.

“I don’t think [it’s a lack of concentration]. We’re 1-0 up, pretty comfortable even if we were defending much deeper than I like.

“I cannot think about any clear chances for Chelsea before that. The decision-making happens and it will happen again for sure, but when it happens against this type of opposition you get punished.

“I think we had the structure really well, we had more numbers than the opponent and were completely in control.

“I think it’s a five against three situation. It’s the structure where we need to control those sorts of situations. Then we just stepped back.

“They are really good in transitions.”

Some people feel that Chelsea should have gone down to 10 men as Jorginho should have been shown a second yellow card for his professional foul but clearly the Arsenal man is not ready to make any sort of excuses.
