Chelsea kicked off their Premier League campaign with a commanding 3-0 win over Crystal Palace and according to Danny Murphy, Tuchel’s side are one of the favourites to lift the trophy next summer.
The Blues did not have to break a sweat to pick up the three points and according to Murphy, the depth of their first-team squad will be one of the main reasons why Chelsea can match Manchester City eye-to-eye.
‘They have built some squad at Stamford Bridge and are brimming with confidence. They ended last season by winning the Champions League and took that form into the game against Crystal Palace,’ he said, as quoted by Metro.
‘For Thomas Tuchel to make so many changes and for everyone to be at it right away was impressive.
‘The difference between Chelsea and Leicester, for example, is if Leicester lose Wilfred Ndidi or Youri Tielemans there might be a drop off in their midfield.

Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho both had a stellar game vs Palace in the middle of the pitch, and the former even ended the match with an assist.
And it’s not only the midfield area but Thomas Tuchel has managed to add at least two backup players for every department in his squad.
Last season, teams like Liverpool and Aston Villa saw massive dips in form due to all their injury concerns and since Chelsea will be attacking on all fronts this time around, the manager is not willing to take any chances.
The arrival of Romelu Lukaku makes things even more cohesive but the big thing for Tuchel now will be to find the right system and ensure that all his players can be in sync for the rest of the campaign.
