Tottenham Hotspur will take on Liverpool in the Champions League final at the Metropolitano next month but unlike other matches, the Lilywhites will go into this game as slight underdogs.
Despite beating Ajax in sensational fashion during the semi-finals, not many people think that Pochettino’s men can go past Liverpool especially since the Reds have been in top class form this whole season.
Obviously, Pochettino will be itching to prove everyone wrong next month but now former Spurs boss Juande Ramos might just have given another big reason as to why it is of utmost importance that the London outfit beat Liverpool.
According to Ramos, Pochettino will need to lift the Champions League trophy if he wishes to keep most of his star players.
He said: “I think the final is at 50 percent, I would like Tottenham to win, but Liverpool will be a very tough and very strong opponent and they also know each other from the Premier League.
“It will be a beautiful final and I hope Tottenham will be the winner.
“There is not only one reason to see Tottenham in the final. The continuity of Pochettino is clearly important, as is not selling his great players.
“The team is very solid and in the last two qualifying rounds he had the bit of luck you need to access the final and I think he deserves it.”
The former Madrid and Spurs boss has hit the nail in the head given that Pochettino is already fighting tooth and nail to keep his big-name players.
The likes of Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane will surely be the subject of huge transfer interest during the summer window.
And if Spurs fail to beat Liverpool in the Champions League then surely Pochettino will see a large number of his first-team players head for the exit doors.
