Odsonne Edouard and Alfredo Morelos are easily two of the best forwards in the Premiership right now and according to John Barnes, the Bhoys man has a slight edge over Morelos.
Edouard has netted 21 goals in 27 Premiership games during the 2019-20 season whereas the Rangers forward has scored 12 goals in 26 games(despite picking up two red cards).
Barnes has said, as reported: “Well, I mean, Edouard has won the league. Celtic have won the league for the last few years, and he’s been a consistent player. But Morelos has also been very good for Rangers.
“Edouard is probably more of a team player. If you look at what he gives to the team.
“Whereas Morelos scores a lot of goals, and he’s much more of an individual. They’re both equally effective, but I think that Edouard is more of a team player, whereas Morelos is more of an individual.
“They’ve got the quality. I don’t know whether they’ve got the quality to play for Liverpool, or Manchester City, or Chelsea, but they’ve definitely got the quality to play in the Premier League.
“Maybe not the better clubs. Maybe a smaller one. I don’t think either of them is going to come and take the place of Mo Salah or Roberto Firmino or first-team players at Manchester City or Chelsea.
“Playing in the Premier League, I think they could both do well.”
Both Celtic and Rangers will want to hold onto Odsonne Edouard and Alfredo Morelos beyond the summer but right now a series of big European clubs are keeping tabs on the two strikers.
Clubs like Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Arsenal are all keen to sign either of the two players but Lennon and Steven Gerrard clearly do not want to part ways with their biggest assets.
Also, we do agree with what Barnes is saying but one thing that he forgot to mention is the fact that Odsonne Edouard is a much more disciplined player as compared to Morelos since the Colombian has the habit of picking up unnecessary red cards, which has put his side trouble time and again.
