Arsenal brought in Mikel Arteta in December of last year to replace Unai Emery and since that time, the new Gunners boss has done a fairly decent job.

While Arsenal have failed to pick up regular wins on the pitch under the guidance of Mikel Arteta but almost everyone is certain that the team is moving in the right direction right now.

Under Unai Emery, especially this season everything seemed to be a big mess and towards the end of his time at the Emirates, the Spanish boss had no clue of what he was doing which clearly reflected on the performances of the players.

But according to Bernd Leno, Mikel Arteta has been able to bring back that positive mentality amongst the Arsenal players which was without a doubt the biggest drawback for the North London club.

“In this short time he has made a big impact,” said Leno as quoted.

“You can see the intensity we play. Also the structure in the team and the mentality all over the pitch.

“Before I don’t want to say it was a mess, it was a little bit confusing. Everybody was doing different things. We were not a team, not in the dressing room, not on the pitch, and you could see this.

“With Mikel, it changed completely. The first day he came, he was not talking too much about tactics, he was talking about how we behave in the dressing room. [He said] when we go to the games we have to be more professional, more like a team.

“It’s not only what he has learned from Pep Guardiola when you talk to all the people who worked with him, they say he’s a very clever guy with tactics and how to improve players.”

Mikel Arteta has mostly seen draws since taking over at the Emirates which is seriously going to impact his ambitions of moving closer to the top-four of the Premier League table.

But the Gunners does have the Europa League to look to which now will surely be their ticket to the Champions League next season.
