Currently, all of football in the United Kingdom is suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic but the Premier League is already making arrangement to resume the 2019-20 season.

Recently, the authorities had announced that all football in the country has been suspended immediately and the matches will only resume once the conditions have been declared safe by the concerned authorities.

Now though it seems like the Premier League clubs are planning to resume training something next month in hopes that the rest of the matches in this season will be played over the summer.

And in order to secure their training centres, the clubs are reportedly bringing in coronavirus testing machines.

As per a report in the Mirror, the clubs will use these machines at their training grounds to constantly screen their players and their staff in order to ensure the safety of everyone.

The report states: “Premier League clubs are ready to roll out coronavirus testing machines as they step up preparations to make a return.

“Clubs could look at using the machines at their training grounds to test players for the virus every day as the Government has pledged more equipment will be in general use by the end of the month.

“It would allow clubs to strictly monitor their players as they begin plans to restart training with some looking at resuming by mid-May as hopes rise games may start again in June.

“Various clubs have now told their players to expect to return to training next month, they may have to do a “mini pre-season” of two to three weeks and then start playing again in June before cramming the games into a four or five-week period.”

This will surely be great news for all the football fans but the Mirror have more or less made it clear that even if the matches resume in time, they will be played behind closed doors.

Is it safe for the Premier League to resume?

A number of teams are looking to get back into training as soon as possible since most of their players and staff have finished the mandatory quarantine period. But having said that, these sides will now have to be extra cautious because one wrong move and they could be back to square one.

Some experts have suggested that the authorities are planning to play out the remaining matches in a World Cup style tournament at a handful of neutral venues.

While some teams might oppose to this idea but right now if the league is cancelled then pay back more than £750m to various broadcasters which they simply cannot afford to do.

So no matter what the circumstances and how much the mental pressure, the teams will have to wrap up their remaining matches more so since UEFA has made so many adjustments to its footballing calendar in order to help the domestic leagues finish the whole season.

It is still unclear as to how long it might take for the Premier League and the other competitions to come back on track but one thing’s for sure, the authorities will only roll out a new schedule once then get the green light from the NHS.
