Bayern Munich are fully focused on signing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur but if they fail to do so, they will look to bring in Julian Alvarez from Manchester City.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel has publicly stated once again that he wants to bring in a new centre-forward before the 2023/24 season kicks off. Right now, Kane is their number one target as the England international enters the final year of his contract but he is yet to sign a new deal with Tottenham.

‘I have a very boring answer: I do not comment on players who are not with us,’ Tuchel told a press conference when asked about Harry Kane(h/t Metro).

‘It’s well known that we are looking for a number 9. If we find someone that fits in, then we’ll go all in. If we don’t find anyone, we’re happy with our squad. But we need more patience’

Will Bayern Munich shift their focus to Julian Alvarez and is it a good idea?

Daniel Levy has already outed two offers from Bayern Munich but the Bavarians are about to make a third bid which is expected to be in the region of £80 million.

The German side strongly feel that Spurs will be tempted by this amount and will allow Harry Kane to leave but if that does not happen then they are ready to wait for the next summer when the forward becomes a free agent. Bayern Munich are not known to be crazy spenders and if Levy can manage to squeeze out £80 million from them then it will be a massive achievement.

In the meantime, Tuchel is planning to bring in MCFC forward Julian Alvarez as a stop-gap for one more season.

Manchester City have made it clear that Alvarez won’t be sent out this season but Bayern Munich are hoping a season-long loan deal will be something Pep Guardiola will consider.

Julian Alvarez has signed a new contract in March but with Erling Haaland in such peak form, there’s no way Alvarez will become a regular starter at City next season. The 23-year-old is a supremely talented striker who scored nine goals last campaign so it won’t harm to send him out on loan in order for him to get more game time.

Harry Kane isn’t going to sign a new deal so if Levy doesn’t sell him this summer then he is going to leave as a free agent next year and Bayern will be in pole position to land him. Alvarez has enough quality to lead Tuchel’s front line for one season and a loan deal won’t be of much harm for Manchester City either.

Dusan Vlahovic and Randal Kolo Muani are also on Bayern’s radar but Julian Alvarez is currently their plan b if they miss out on Harry Kane.
