Man United drew their latest Premier League game as Arsenal held them to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates and playmaker Bruno Fernandes was once again a no-show on Saturday.

The Portuguese has been a revelation ever since he’s joined Man United but the one major criticism about Bruno Fernandes is that he fails to leave a mark during the big matches. And this weekend’s match was no different.

According to Paul Scholes, if Man United are to become genuine title contenders then players like Bruno Fernandes will have to be more impactful against the traditional top-six sides of the Premier League.

“You talk about [playing] Liverpool and Manchester City, they just can’t seem to win those games,” Scholes told Premier League Productions, as reported.

“When you struggle against Sheffield United the other night and you get beat by them, and it comes to the big game, you have to win these games, and they just can’t find a way of doing it.

“Bruno Fernandes has been disappointing in every single one of them. He’s had great numbers, great assists, great goals, I think in the last five games against big teams he’s had no goals, no assists.

“It’s really worrying. And that’s why United are where they’re at. I know they’re in a good position, it’s an alright position, but it’s not a position where you think this team will go on to win the league.”

On Saturday, Bruno Fernandes was once again a disappointment despite the match being a very open one and when he does not come up with the good, Man United look a very average mid-table side.

The 26-year-old could only manage two shots on target and both of them did not cause too much trouble for the Gunners defence. Fernandes also managed to string together only 53 passes throughout the game and most of then were in and around the middle of the park – something which caused very little damage to the Gunners structure.
