After the shock 2-1 loss to Burnley last week, Man United failed to win yet another Premier League game, this time drawing 0-0 against Arsenal.

The draw means Man United have failed to reclaim the top spot on the league table and they now find themselves three points behind leaders Manchester City.

Man United have managed to keep their away record intact with this draw but they did have a number of chances to pick up all three points on Saturday. In total, United attempted fourteen shorts and in all fairness, some of them should have ended up in the back of the net.

And this is what seems to have pleased manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who feels that despite dropping the two points, his side managed to control the rhythm of the match and also keep a clean sheet.

He told after the game, as reported: “I was impressed with the performance. I thought we approached the game in the right manner, came here [and] dominated the first half, had the majority of the possession, some big chances – in the second half, especially. Marcus had one in the first half as well, and we just lacked that little bit of clinical finishing.

“We’ll get them going again definitely. I felt in control; of course they have a free-kick that hits the crossbar but apart from that you feel in control.

“They had another shot that David saved that’s never going to bother him anyway, but we created chances and crosses as we said [we would] before the game. I thought they followed the plan and [there was] good quality by Aaron down the side, Luke down the side – unfortunately we just couldn’t score the goal.

“I felt that we controlled the game and of course a free-kick that hits the crossbar can always go in, but apart from that I didn’t think they bothered us too much.

“We were a little bit passive outside the box – they had a few too many shots. But David wouldn’t be bothered by too many of them.”

Many pundits think despite Arsenal’s strong challenge on Saturday, Man United should have come out of the match with all three points, especially with the chances that forwards like Cavani and Rashford had during the game.

Now, the Red Devils have played 21 matches in the Premier League meaning they just cannot afford to drop any more points – or else they could end up outside the top-four by the end of next month.

Man United are back home in midweek when they take on Southampton in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
