Arsenal brought in Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid and it looks like the player has made an immediate impact at the club.

The central midfielder has been brought in to act as a permanent replacement for Aaron Ramsey who left for Juventus at the end of last season and if Emery’s statements are anything to go by then the midfielder is more or less a guaranteed starter this Sunday.

The Gunners will take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park during their opening game of the new Premier League season and before this match, the Arsenal manager has come out to admire the mentality of Dani Ceballos.

‘Ceballos’ mind is very strong,’ Emery said.

‘His mentality. Last Sunday when he received a big kick on his ankle I thought ‘oh, it’s broken’.

‘But after, on Monday, he was training – (he said) “I’m fine and want to train”. He is showing us every day his ambition, his hunger is big. I think we need players like this.’

The Gunners were expected to have one of the poorest summer transfer windows amongst the top six clubs but they ended up making some fine signings.

‘We are very happy and we are delighted with what the club did (in the transfer window),’ he added.

‘Also (head of football) Raul Sanllehi and (director of football) Edu were working together to find the best solutions, being competitive in the moment we can sign another player and also using the club to support us economically to do that.

‘And really, really now we are going to fight strong with a big responsibility with this squad and after that, we want to continue doing well.’

While it is pretty clear that Dani Ceballos has won over Unai Emery with his hard work and commitment in training but experts believe the manager will not try and rush him into the starting XI.
