Chelsea have been keen to land Declan Rice from West Ham United but according to Frank McAvennie, the Blues might have to shell out a record transfer fee in order to land the midfielder.

He told Football Insider: “You’re talking about £80 million for Harry Maguire.

“I think that if he’s worth that then West Ham will be thinking that Declan’s worth somewhere between £60-80 million.

“But listen, the owners will have a figure in mind, and I think it’s the same with every club, if someone matches that, they will sell him. Every club is a selling club now, especially with the pandemic and no money coming in from supporters.

“They’ll have a price, and if it’s met, he’ll be on his way – if he wants to, that is. It’s down to the player as well.”

How much will Chelsea pay for Declan Rice?

Recent rumours have suggested that Chelsea are willing to pay around £50 million in exchange of Declan Rice but there’s no way that West Ham United will sell the 21-year-old for that cheap a price.

Rice still has four years left on his current deal with the Hammers meaning David Moyes is in no hurry to part ways with him right now.

Chelsea, on the other hand, want to sell off N’Golo Kante while Jorginho has also been linked with a move back to the Serie A. So in such a scenario, the Blues have no other option but to reconsider their offer for Declan Rice.

Declan Rice played in each and every Premier League game for West Ham during the 19/20 season and if the Blues are able to land him then Frank Lampard will undoubtedly have one of the best midfield in world football.
