Man City have been heavily linked with Erling Haaland and it looks like it’s only a matter of time before Pep Guardiola gets his hands on the striker.

It’s being claimed that Man City have prepared an offer for the Norwegian and they are ready to make him the highest-paid player in English football. Now in a major update, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Erling Haaland has made up his mind to secure an exit from Borussia Dortmund.

The transfer expert wrote on Twitter: “Erling Haaland will decide his next club very soon. It’s a matter of weeks. Paying the release clause is not an issue – no meeting with BVB is needed for any club.

“It’s only up to Haaland now. The decision will include many factors: project, manager & not only money.”

Are Man City the favourites to sign Erling Haaland?

Erling Haaland is going to be one of the most sought-after strikers in the summer and even though Man City are the leading the line to sign him, we don’t think Real Madrid will give up without a fight.

Madrid are getting Mbappe for free so they will have money to spare to go after a player like Haaland. But the only problem for them will be the massive wage demands for the Norwegian. Having two high-earners like Mbappe and Haaland might not be a sustainable plan.

Barcelona were linked with Haaland but their president has made it clear that they can’t afford to make such an expensive signing so the Camp Nou outfit are definitely out of this race.

If a high wage bill is not an issue then Real Madrid will surely try and battle Manchester City but there’s no denying that Pep Guardiola’s side are the favourites to land the 21-year-old.

Will Haaland choose Man City or Madrid?

As per Romano, money won’t be the only factor in helping Erling Haaland decide his future so whichever side wins the Champions League this season will have a major upper hand in this race.

The striker’s agent is Mino Raiola so the money will undoubtedly be at the top of the agenda but trophies will play a major role as well.

Also, at Madrid, he will get the opportunity to play alongside a player like Kylian Mbappe and this could be a factor in his decision-making as well. At Man City though, he will be the undisputed striker because Guardiola doesn’t have a world-class centre-forward right now.
