Jack Grealish to Man City
Jack Grealish playing for Aston Villa

Manchester United, over the past few months, have made Villa’s Jack Grealish one of their biggest transfer targets for the upcoming transfer window.

While Jack Grealish is also eager to make a move to Old Trafford but Aston Villa are reportedly asking for around £80 million in exchange for the 24-year-old. And this is proving to be a major stumbling block for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Many pundits feel Manchester United should not be spending so much money on the English playmaker especially in times of a financial crunch but Darren Bent is convinced of his price tag.

“Listen, Harry Maguire went for £85million, a world record fee, so you look at Jack Grealish and you’d have to say Jack Grealish has had a better season than Harry Maguire,” Bent told Football Insider.

“He’s been absolutely brilliant, he’s carried Aston Villa, I’m sure if it wasn’t for him, Aston Villa would have been relegated ages ago if it hadn’t been for Jack Grealish carrying the team.

“£80million sounds about right, I don’t think that’s too expensive and I don’t think that will put off anybody.”

Is Jack Grealish worth £80 million?

During the 2019-20 season, the 24-year-old has played in 31 matches across all competition for Aston Villa, having managed to net nine goals and assist a further eight.

At at a glance, this might not seem much for a £80 million price tag but the playmaker has been one of the best in his position, not only for Villa but in the entire Premier League.

The attacking midfielder has an eye for a pass and him along with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba can reap havoc in England – if he is actually destined for Old Trafford next season.

Man United were hoping that Villa will lower their demands if they are relegated from the Premier League but Dean Smith’s side have made it clear that Jack Grealish will not be sold for anything less than £80 million.

But at the same time, if Villa do go down to the second division by the end of the season, then there’s no way the attacking midfielder will want to play in the Championship.
