Brendan Rodgers left Celtic FC to join Premier League side Leicester City earlier this week.

And now the Bhoys have appointed Neil Lennon as their manager until the end of the season.

The management will be hoping that Lennon can keep the boat sailing until the summer while they look for a permanent replacement for Rodgers.

And if reports are to be believed then Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke is currently the favourite.

Steve Clarke took charge of Kilmarnock in 2017 from Aston Villa and this season, he had done some fine work with the team.

But the Kilmarnock manager has made it clear that he has no intention of moving to Parkhead.

“I am not interested in leaving Kilmarnock for another Scottish club. I have said that before and that’s still the case,” Clarke said.

“The bookies can sometimes be wrong…I have backed a few long shots in my time!

“But seriously, that speculation is always there.

“I have come back to Scotland and I’ve done a pretty decent job, so I’m always going to be linked with other jobs.

“I had been at Rugby Park for eight weeks and I was linked with the Scotland job, and after 12 weeks I was linked with the Rangers job.

“If I am doing well and the team’s doing well then there will be the rumours.

“But like I said before, when I came to Kilmarnock it was for reasons that I had that fitted into where I saw myself next, and that’s still the case.

“I am 100 per cent sure that I will be going back to England in the future, that’s where my life is.

“But for now my focus is on Kilmarnock, and concentrating on securing a top-six finish.”

Steven Clarke’s current contract with Kilmarnock ends in the summer of 2020 but the Killie fans are still wary about their dynamic manager leaving.
