Maurizio Sarri and Kepa Arrizabalaga have been having a dismal week and it looks like the limelight is just not ready to shift away from them.
It all started when the keeper refused to come off during the Carabao Cup final which left Maurizio Sarri infuriated at the summer signing.
Tensions boiled but Kepa stayed put and eventually Chelsea ended up losing the final(no fault of his though).
And since then there have been widespread rumours as to what Maurizio Sarri would do with the keeper.
Some say the duo will bury the hatchet and move on while others believe that Kepa is going to receive some harsh punishment.
But according to former Everton boss Sam Allardyce, here’s what Maurizio Sarri should have done.
‘Put it this way, it wouldn’t have happened with me, I don’t think,’ the former England boss told Good Morning Britain(as reported).
‘You know me, I think he would’ve actually come off and I would’ve put the [other] goalkeeper on.
‘It was a case of an injury that looked like it was going to repeat itself and you didn’t want it to happen while we were taking penalties and cramp twice.
‘I [would have] sent the captain over and said, “you’ve got to do the manager’s wishes and come off”.
Initially, Maurizio Sarri had come out to claim that the whole incident was a misunderstanding and even Kepa had issued a public apology.
But many pundits believe that we haven’t heard the end of this story yet.
