Chelsea have been eyeing a move for Bayern Munich keeper Manuel Neuer as a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga for some time now.

And with the German about to enter the final year of his contract, there have been rumours of him trying to leave the club in the summer despite Bayern Munich willing to offer him a new deal.

Recently, Chelsea were given high hopes of signing Manuel Neuer after details of his contract talks with Bayern Munich were made public and the 34-year-old was clearly unhappy with the unprofessionalism.

The German keeper had said last week: “All conversations that I’ve had here since [2011] have always been conducted with great confidence. Nothing has ever leaked out.

“But now there are details from the current discussions in the media that are often not even correct. That annoys me. That’s not how I know Bayern.

“I want to play as long as I’m fit. But the most important thing for me is trust. It’s clear to me that it’s utopian to want a five-year contract. I’m 34 and can’t predict how I’m going to be at 39. That’s why what has been publicly suggested makes no sense at all.

“It has always been important to me to be able to work trustingly with the employees in management positions – as loyal as I am to the club as a player and captain.”

This statement clearly suggests Manuel Neuer is not too thrilled with the proceedings which is why many people have since claimed that he could snub the new deal and join a new club at the end of the season.

But now speaking about the whole scenario, Bayern Munich Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has calmed a lot of nerves by claiming that Manuel Neuer will hopefully remain at the club beyond the summer

“We both know what we have in each other,” Rummenigge told German newspaper Bild, via Daily Star.

“And under these circumstances, I am optimistic that we will find a solution in the end and that Manuel Neuer will sign a new contract.

“We have the world’s best goalkeeper and we have already won everything with him.”

Frank Lampard has been eyeing a lot of players as the potential replacement to Kepa Arrizabalaga but it seems they are slipping away one by one.

Initially, Lampard was scouting Nick Pope but the player will end up being too costly a transfer while Jordan Pickford will need some convincing in order to make him snub Everton and join the Blues.
