Man United youngster Mason Greenwood was one of the star performers vs Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday and according to his manager, he could play a vital role in the side during the second half of the season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is happy that Mason Greenwood is learning from the likes of Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes and the England international should have more goals and assists left in him for the 2020-21 season.

He told in his pre-match press conference: “We think Mason is going to be very important in the second half of the season.

“But it isn’t just going to happen by itself because you had a good game and scored. He had a good game against West Ham a while back as well and we expect him to kick on. I think Mason has taken steps, he has grown, is more mature and he’s been training with Edinson Cavani for half a season now.

“He’s learning good habits and whoever doesn’t learn good habits from a good professional like him or Bruno [Fernandes], or the players we’ve brought in, that’s a pity.

“I’m very confident that Mason will chip in with good performances and goals and assists.”

Mason Greenwood scored one and assisted one goal vs Liverpool in the 3-2 win during the weekend and this was one of the best performances the youngster has put in this season.

Last campaign, Greenwood played incredible football for United and his name was on everyone’s lips. But over the course of the last few months, the forward has toned down a lot and after his incident with the England national team, the Man United manager has sort of pulled him out of the limelight.

This has obviously hampered his effectiveness on the pitch since he’s scored just one goal in 13 Premier League games so far. But if his performance against Liverpool is anything to go by then the 19-year-old looks to be finding his feet again.

Marcus Rashford picked up a slight knock on Sunday which could force Ole to rest him against Sheffield United in midweek. And if Rashford is on the bench then Mason Greenwood is sure to get another start.
