Manchester United brought in Odion Ighalo from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua on a short-term loan deal in January but right now there are really confusing reports about his future at Ol Trafford.
Ole had recently praised Ighalo regarding his qualities hinting at the fact that the club might just be ready to offer him a permanent deal in the summer.
“Odion has come in really well and he will improve and get better,” the manager said. “But he has qualities we saw in him and needed and we need those qualities for next season.
“He knows his job and role in the team, and he’s very good with his back to goal. He’s a great link player, but maybe the best thing about him is his personality. He’s got the whole lot really.”
And now some reports are claiming that Man United have been pretty impressed with what Odion Ighalo has offered to the club so far and are willing to hand him a permanent deal once his loan contract comes to an end.
As per the report, Man United are ready to pay Shanghai Shenhua up to 15 million pounds in exchange for the Nigerian’s services for the upcoming season.
But this though isn’t the only report since others claim that Odion Ighalo might have played his final game for the club with his contract set to expire at the end of May and there’s every chance that the Premier League could carry on beyond that.
While some rumours claim that the Chinese club have allowed the loan deal to be extended for another four weeks but right now there’s no official confirmation meaning as things stand, Ighalo will have to return back to China.
So far the forward has played in eight games for Manchester United across all competitions scoring four goals and many experts claim that the club should pay the meagre transfer fee and hold onto him since the player has every quality of being a capable backup striker.
But all said and done, right now Man United will be trying to hold onto the player until the 2019-20 season wraps up and only then will they make a decision about his long-term future.
