Romelu Lukaku was a major flop during his time at Manchester United and according to FC Inter 1908, arch-rivals Manchester City are planning to bring him back to the Premier League.

The forward’s career graph was on a steady decline when he went on to join Inter Milan in the summer of 2019 but he’s since managed to turn things around and right now, the Belgian international is one of the most prolific goal scorers in European football.

Inter Milan will love to plan a long future with the 27-year-old but reports are claiming that they might be forced to sell Romelu Lukaku to a club like Manchester City due to their financial troubles.

The report claims: “In the last episode of Pressing, a Mediaset program, the economic situation at Inter was discussed at length.

“According to reports from the broadcaster, the difficulties of the Nerazzurri ownership could push Steven Zhang to approve the sale of some precious pieces.

“The name made by Mediaset is that of Romelu Lukaku, who would have many fans in the Premier League. In particular in the parts of Manchester, where Pep Guardiola, the City manager, would make false cards to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.”

This rumour was further amplified by FCInterNews who are now claiming that not only Romelu Lukaku but even Antonio Conte could be on his way out of the club.

They claim: “For example, Manchester City’s pressure on Lukaku has intensified and uncertainty remains about the renewal (blocked for some time) of Bastoni.

“But the same goes for other players as well. And Antonio Conte is no exception: even the Lecce coach, who hoped for a decidedly different Suning strategy, could be reluctantly forced to leave Milan.”

This is really grim news for the Inter Milan fans but at the same time, Pep Guardiola will love the prospect of bringing in someone like Romelu Lukaku, a player who has netted 27 goals in 41 games across all competitions for Inter Milan this season.

With Sergio Aguero departing in the summer, Guardiola is indeed looking for a long-term replacement but Romelu Lukaku isn’t the only striker on City’s wishlist. The Etihad outfit have also been linked with players such as Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.
