Chelsea dropped points at home once again, this time losing 2-0 to Southampton in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

On Sunday, Frank Lampard’s men picked up a fine win against Jose Mourinho’ Spurs which is why most people were pretty sure that the Blues will be able to pick up three easy points on Thursday.

But instead, Chelsea looked absolutely toothless during the match as they could manage only three shots on target all throughout the match.

And according to Frank Lampard, the lack of creating more chances in the final third is something that is causing problems for Chelsea at home.

‘We have to work,’ the Chelsea manager said via The Metro.

‘Players have to go one versus one if you’re an offensive player. Play it around the corner, mix up your game, break defensive lines, because teams aren’t stupid, they are well organised, we need to do more in an attacking sense.

‘You can’t have nearly 70 per cent possession and control, in particular, the first half, and not do more, not hit better crosses, not hit better final passes, not get clear chances at goal from our point of view.

‘Teams are making it difficult here. We are not making enough chances, we were at the beginning of the season.

‘I think we have enough to be better than we were today. It needs to be a quick learning process now.’

Next up, Chelsea travel across London to take on Arsenal in the Premier League at the Emirates.
