Arsenal played their first match under new manager Mikel Arteta on Boxing Day against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.

And despite the Gunners best efforts, they could only salvage a single point in this match.

Dan Gosling gave Arsenal the lead in the 35th minute but it was Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who levelled things up for the travelling side minutes after the hour mark.

Arteta had made it clear that each of his players had to prove their worth in order to remain at the club for the rebuilding process and according to Ian Wright, the manager can take out positives from this game despite picking up just one point.

The pundit told Match of the Day when asked if there were any positives[as quoted]: “Absolutely.

“[Arsenal had the] most shots they’ve had in an away game this season. We were wasteful in the final third, some of the decision-making was poor. But Arsenal should have punished Bournemouth with more clinical finishing.

“Ozil was brilliant today. Bournemouth gave him too much space. You could see Arsenal’s players getting forward right until the end.

“There was much more intensity. Arsenal could have won that game but there were plenty of positives and I was very happy with what I saw today.”

The draw means Arsenal are still 11th on the Premier League table and next up they take on Chelsea in a London Derby on Sunday.
