Arsenal had been eager to sign Ivan Raktic from FC Barcelona during the summer transfer window.
And the Gunners had also reportedly made contact with the La Liga club but it looks like the move is not going to happen.
Ivan Rakitic joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2014 and since then the Croatian has been the backbone for the Catalans.
But it seems like age is catching up with the midfielder and Barcelona are already looking for long term replacements.
Ivan Rakitic’s current deal at the club expires in 2021 but if the latest reports are to be believed then the 30-year-old is planning to move out of Spain during the summer transfer window.
And the same report claims that he will be joining Inter Milan in the Serie A.
Inter had seen a bid of €35 million rejected some time ago but rumours have it that the Italians are expected to return back with a refreshed bid of €40 million.
While Barcelona have set a €45 million price tag for Ivan Rakitic but Inter are confident that their renewed bid will be accepted.
This is a huge blow for Arsenal and the reports suggest that Barcelona were not against sending Ivan Rakitic to London but it was the player himself who refused to move the Emirates stadium at the end of the season.
This season, Ivan Rakitic has played in 36 games for Ernesto Valverde’s side having scored four goals and provided six assists.
