Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney and now, the Bees have finally set their asking price.

Toney is currently serving a ban but the England international has started training with the Brentford squad since September and will be allowed to return to competitive football on January 17, 2024.

The 27-year-old has been with the Bees since joining the club in 2020 from Peterborough United but with so many big clubs interested in him, there are suggestions that he could be on his way out in January itself. However, Brentford do not want to lose him during the middle of the season which is why they will quote around £100 million from the club that wishes to sign him.

Will Arsenal or Chelsea be willing to pay so much for Ivan Toney?

The Bees have set such a crazy price tag just cause they do not want to lose Toney during the middle of the season and there’s no way Arsenal or even Chelsea will spend so much money on the 27-year-old.

Toney has scored 68 goals in his 124 appearances for Brentford but he’s not worth £100 million, not even at the end of the season.

Chelsea and Arsenal are actively searching for a new centre-forward so apart from Ivan Toney, they are also keeping tabs on Victor Osimhen. Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world right now and if the two London clubs do want to spend £100-odd million, they would happily spend it on Osimhen rather than Toney.

The Gunners are also being linked with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko as the alternative to the Bees frontman.

To conclude, Brentford do not wish to lose Ivan Toney but still Arsenal and Chelsea will knock on their doors, that’s for sure. The Bees should stick to their decision but they will be hoping that the Englishman does not force for an exit.

Toney has previously stated that he wants to play for one of the big boys so if Arsenal or Chelsea make contact with him then there’s every chance he could ask for a transfer in January itself.
