Manchester United have decided to get rid of Jadon Sancho and Antony at the end of the ongoing season, as per the latest reports.
Jadon Sancho is currently out on loan to Borussia Dortmund while Antony is still trying to secure his first league goal of the season, after playing 17 Premier League games since August. It’s safe to say that both of them have been failures at Manchester United which is why the owners want to cash in on the pair.
Sancho’s rift with Erik Ten Hag has impacted his career at the club while, on the other hand, Antony has done nothing but do a couple of stepovers and hand the ball back to the opposition.
Man United spent around £155 million to sign these two forwards but neither of them has been able to make a significant impact at the club. Sancho has scored just seven goals in 41 games last season while Antony has netted eight goals in 66 appearances for the Red Devils.
United are clearly looking to recoup most of the amount they had spent on Jadon Sancho and Antony but it will be very hard for the English side to secure £50 million each for the two wingers.
Sancho has made a fairly decent start to his loan spell in Germany and if he can keep up his form until the end of the season then Man United will be able to quote a high enough transfer fee for him. His contract expires in 2026, so United have time on their side as well.
Antony, however, has been an achilles heel for Erik Ten Hag and it will almost impossible for Man United to bag £50 million for him. He has zero goal contributions in 911 minutes of league football this campaign and not even a Saudi club will be ready to pay so much for the right-winger.
The new Man United minority owners are about to take a ruthless approach in terms of player exits so we are expecting to see a massive exodus at the end of this season. Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Eriksen and Lindelof are likely to leave and now it looks like Jadon Sancho and Antony’s names have also been added to that list.
