Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for James Rodriguez this summer but it looks like they might not be able to sign him – as per reports.

James Rodriguez has failed to impress at Real Madrid after joining the club in 2014 and right now he is out on loan to Bayern Munich on a two-year loan spell.

The player is set to return back to Spain at the end of this season but Real have no intentions of holding onto him any longer.

James Rodriguez is out of contract at the Bernabeu in 2021 and it’s being reported that Zidane wants to cash in on him this summer itself.

While a number of top European clubs have been linked with the 29-year-old but it seems like the Premier League could be his next destination with the likes of Arsenal and Wolves interested in signing him.

The Gunners have been keeping tabs on the player for some time now and there had been whispers that the North London club would be able to secure his services at the end of the season.

Now though it seems like they will miss out on James Rodriguez since Everton are now the favourites to land his services.

It’s being claimed that James Rodriguez is eager to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti after having worked with him at Real and Bayern which is why he might choose to snub teams like Wolves and Arsenal in order to join the Goodison Park outfit.

Last summer the player wanted to join Napoli and play under Ancelotti but eventually, the deal did not go through but now he seems adamant to reunite with the Italian.

And so if this news holds any truth then Arsenal might have to watch from the sidelines as James Rodriguez moves to Merseyside during the upcoming transfer window.

It’s still not clear if Everton are willing to pay the required transfer fee in order to sign the Colombian but if they walk in that direction then we don’t see James Rodriguez moving to Arsenal – more so since the Gunners will be missing out on Champions League football next campaign.

Should James Rodriguez choose Arsenal?

While Everton at the moment look the frontrunners to signing the player but we have a strong feeling that he should snub the Toffees and make a move to Arsenal simply because the Gunners have better chances of playing in Europe in the coming few years.

Everton have pumped massive amounts of money into transfer during the past couple of seasons but they are still struggling to mingle with the big boys whereas Arsenal even with their mediocre squad have been pushing for Champions League football for almost every season.

And we are sure that like any other top player James Rodriguez too would want to play in the top tier of European football and for that he should move to the Emirates in the summer.
