Last summer, Rangers fought off many a clubs in order to hold off James Tavernier but it seems like the defender will well and truly be on his way out at the end of the season.
The right-back joined Rangers in 2015 from Premier League side Wigan and since then he has been a fine servant to the club. He is currently the captain of the side and in the 2019-20 season, Tavernier has already managed to provide nine assists in the league along with three goals.
Now though as per reports, the Gers seem to have decided to offload the player at the end of the season and they are willing to offer a 50 per cent price cut for him.
As per reports, last summer, Rangers were asking for a transfer fee of around £8 million but this time around then are ready to affect half of that.
It’s being reported that Gerrard is expected to make a series of big signing in the summer which is why he is desperately in need of cash and this is one of the main reasons why the manager is willing to let him leave for such a cheap transfer price.
Also, another possible reason is the amount of interest in James Tavernier this time around might be very low.
Last summer, clubs like Newcastle United, West Brom and Aston Villa were all interested in signing the 28-year-old but Rangers believe the full-back might find very limited suitors at the end of the season.
As of now, no major English club has been linked with a move for James Tavernier but surely Gerrard will want to cash him this transfer window itself since he now only has two years left on his current deal at Ibrox.
