James Tavernier has been a fine servant to Rangers FC having joined the club back in 2015 from Wigan Athletic.

But it looks like the player could leave Ibrox this summer with a number of clubs interested in signing him.

Last season, Steven Gerrard had admitted that the club had received a number of enquiries from English clubs regarding James Tavernier and now Football Insider is claiming that as many as 10 clubs are after the right-back.

The report states: “More than 10 clubs are interested in signing Rangers skipper James Tavernier in the summer transfer window, Football Insider can reveal.”

“The Ibrox right-back has emerged as the most in-demand player at the club as Light Blues are inundated with calls from teams in the UK and overseas about him.”

“Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Brighton, multiple Championship clubs as well as teams from Italy and Spain have registered their interest in Tavernier.

“Rangers face a battle to hold on to the defender, who they now value at £10million as he is at a peak age – 27 – and has three years remaining on his contract.”

While Rangers have put a price tag of £10 million but rumours have it that £8 million should be more than enough for an interested club to sign James Tavernier.

The 27-year-old is in the prime of his career and he still has three years left on his current deal which means Steven Gerrard has no reason to hit the panic button just yet.

But some experts believe that a chance of playing in the English Premier League could convince the player to hand in a transfer request this summer.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa are said to be the front runners to signing James Tavernier this season but there is a big possibility that Steve Bruce is the one who gets his hands on the right-back since he came up through the ranks at St James’ Park.
