Rangers FC midfielder Jason Holt who left the club to join Fleetwood Town on loan earlier this summer has spoken about his last conversation with the Gers boss.

Holt joined the Light Blues in the summer of 2015 after impressing on a loan spell and the midfielder has been a key player in the first eleven over the past three seasons.

But now with new manager Steven Gerrard bringing in new players to strengthen his squad, Jason Holt knew that his first eleven opportunities would dry up hence he chose to move out of Ibrox.

At first, many people thought that Jason Holt parted ways with the club on a sour note. But now the 25-year-old has revealed that no such thing had happened and in fact, he and the manager had a proper conversation before he took the decision to move out of Scotland.

Talking to MailSport, the former Hearts player said: “A day or two before I reported back for pre-season at Rangers, I spoke to the new gaffer. We had a face-to-face chat and I was aware he was going to strengthen the squad,

“I had to find out if I was going to be a part of it. He told me that I probably wouldn’t play as regularly as I wanted.

“So I think it was the right decision to join a club where I’m going to have a big role. Gerrard didn’t shove me out of the door. But it was a decision I felt I just had to make. I’ll look back on my time at Rangers and know I never let anyone down.

“I always gave my all every time I played even though it was a difficult time for the club. I think the fans appreciated that. But my Rangers career isn’t over yet. I’ve still time on my contract – and no one knows what the future might hold for me.”

And this loan spell with the League One side might just be the chance for Jason Holt to catch the attention of the Gers manager given the fact that when he will return to Ibrox next summer he will only have one year remaining in his current contract.

And in such a scenario, the Light Blues will try their absolute best to try and offload him instead of losing him for free.
