Charlton Athletic midfielder Joe Aribo is hot property in the transfer market this season and both Celtic and Rangers are reportedly interested in signing him.

Joe Aribo has come up through the ranks at Charlton but the 22-year-old is expected to move out of the Valley this summer.

And multiple reports have claimed that he is more than likely to land in Glasgow for the upcoming season.

Some rumours have also suggested that Rangers have already contacted the player and are currently one step ahead of their Old Firm rivals to sign Aribo.

Even Charlton know very well that Joe Aribo will be heading out in the next couple of months, but Charlton’s head of recruitment Steve Gallen has warned the midfielder not to join either of the two Premiership clubs

Here’s why:

“We really hope he doesn’t go. But if Joe does decide to go then we’d really like him to go English, for a couple of reasons,” Gallen said.

“One, because that is the best place for him to go to – the best place to develop his career.

“And two, because if he did go to a club in England then our club would get recompensed.

“We would get a fair valuation of his worth. If he goes cross-border then the club won’t.”

Charlton’s head of recruitment has hit the nail on the head as Joe Aribo will most certainly get much more exposure and experience if he joins an English club.

But in case Joe Aribo chooses Celtic or Rangers this summer then the midfielder will have a genuine shot at winning trophies in the upcoming season.
