Former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique was diagnosed with a rare form of brain tumour earlier this year following which he underwent a surgery in May.
After the successful surgery, Jose Enrique will now be beginning his radiotherapy in Paris.
And before the 35 sessions of radiotherapy, the 32-year-old sent out a message for his fans.
Jose Enrique moved to England in 2007 when he joined Premier League side Newcastle United for a fee of £6.3 million.
Enrique signed a five-year contract and ended up playing 129 games for the Magpies finally moving to Liverpool in 2011 for a £7 million fee.
Jose Enrique played 99 games for Liverpool until 2016 following which he was released by the Merseyside club.
The left-back retired from professional football in 2017 due to a persistent knee problem and then he was diagnosed with the brain tumour early 2018.
And now as Jose Enrique enters his radiotherapy, the 32-year-old has put out a message on social media.
Jose Enriue wrote: “Day 1 of my proton therapy treatment. The last step in the road to recovery.”

In a recent interview with the BBC, Jose Enrique had talked about his battles with cancer saying:
“It changed my life,
“Even if the doctor says ‘don’t worry, it’s a tumour’, you don’t believe it and are like ‘am I going to die tomorrow?’ because for some people it’s like cancer and it’s going to spread everywhere.
“When you have the word tumour thrown around, it is a really scary moment.
“I remember being in the hospital with my partner Amy and we were shaking. I have never shaken like that in my life.
“They said I could have had the tumour since I was born, it could be 20 years or 25, they said it can be there for a long time.
“I lost the vision of my left eye. The tumour was sat on the nerve of the left eye, so that’s what was the trouble.
“The thought of dying was the most scary thing. I was like, I’m 32 and have always been a healthy person. It was a big shock for me.”
