Liverpool dropped points for the first time in the Premier League this season as Man United held them to a 1-1 draw. And speaking after the match, Jurgen Klopp was not a happy man.

The German chose to lash out at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team’s defensive mindset during the match claiming Man United always play a negative brand of football whenever the two teams face each other.

“Man Utd had momentum in the first half because they were purely there to defend us,” Klopp told Sky Sports(as reported by MEN).

“We should have done much better but it’s obviously easier to play like that than to pass through those lines. In the second half, we changed a little and it was better.

“It’s just a point. Since I’m in England Man United always played like this. We could do better and we will be better in the future but now we have to take it like it is.

“Everyone builds it up like a mountain but only one team has to defend and the other team has to make the game. It’s not the feeling that we won something today – it’s just a point.”

But while Klopp was clearly not content with Man United’s tactics, Jose Mourinho chose to rub a bit more salt into his wounds by saying that the German is used to play a certain way and so when Man United offered something else on the table, the Liverpool boss did not know what to do with it.

“He didn’t like the menu,” Mourinho said of Klopp[as quoted by MEN]. “He likes meat and he got fish.

“United, with the limitations they have at the moment, they played with five at the back, were solid and didn’t give the chance of transition. Jurgen Klopp didn’t like the menu.

“They [Liverpool] missed quality to play against a team with a low block. They have a fantastic record of so many victories. But they have limitations against teams with low blocks. They can smash opponents that play the way they want to play against.

“Jurgen clearly has frustrations. It’s a fantastic situation for his team. But at Old Trafford – which is a special place to win – he [Klopp] never did it.”

Jose Mourinho is obviously the master at shutting teams down and it looks like Solskjaer took a leaf out of the former Man United manager’s book.

And so it was obvious that the Portuguese would come out and defend Man United’s style of play on Sunday simply cause he would have also done the same thing if he was in charge.
