West Ham United midfielder Josh Cullen could be offloaded by Manuel Pellegrini this summer – as per reports.
Josh Cullen has come up through the ranks at the Hammers academy but the midfielder has found it really hard to break into the first team squad – moving around on loan deals during the past couple of seasons.
Last season, Josh Cullen was out on loan to Charlton Athletic and it was here that the 23-year-old caught the attention of a number of people.
He received rave reviews for his performances at the club and Addicks manager Lee Bowyer could not stop praising him.
While Bowyer did want to extend the loan spell but eventually West Ham said no and called him back to the club.
“Now the dust has settled after one of the best days of my career, I’d just like to say it was an absolute pleasure to play for Charlton Athletic Football Club this season,” Cullen wrote on Twitter as a farewell to Charlton.
“It was important that the club got back closer to where it belongs and we did it by gaining promotion.
“A massive thank you goes to all the players, staff and fans who were brilliant to me all season. I wish the club all the best for the future.”
Now though if reports are to believed then Manuel Pellegrini has come to a conclusion that Josh Cullen is nothing more than dead weight and is willing to offload him.
Claret and Hugh are reporting that Charlton Athletic are interested in bringing back Josh Cullen and this time the Addicks want to sign him permanently.
A Hammers source told Claret and Hugh: “We are ready to look at all offers for players on the fringes of the squad and it will be the manager, of course, making those decisions.”
While Pellegrini should not have any problems letting Josh Cullen leave this summer but the reports also suggest that Charlton might not be able to pay more than £1 million for the midfielder which right now seems too low a price.
