Arsenal are looking to make a move for PSG playmaker Julian Draxler during the summer transfer window – as per reports.
The player joined PSG in 2017 from Wolfsburg and very soon he is about to enter the final year of his contract at the Ligue 1 club. But since he’s played in only 19 games this season, we do not think PSG will be offering him a new deal.
And over the past week, there have been reports that PSG are willing to listen to offers for the playmaker and as per the latest updates Arsenal seem to have joined the race.
This isn’t the first time that the Gunners have been linked with Julian Draxler having tried to sign him a couple of seasons ago but this time around, they aren’t alone.
It’s being claimed Hertha Berlin are also interested in Draxler and have already submitted a provisional bid for him. And so it will be interesting to see if Arsenal are willing to get their hands dirty and make a serious move for Julian Draxler given that he could be available for a real bargain deal in the summer.
The 26-year-old is currently valued at only €24 million according to TransferMarkt but with Arsenal now interested in signing him, PSG might try and jack up the price a little more.
Is Julian Draxler the perfect replacement for Ozil?
Mesut Ozil has been on and off the first XI this season but over the past couple of months, the German has been brought back into the fold by new manager Mikel Arteta.
But if Julian Draxler is truly available in the market, Arteta should not be thinking too hard since the PSG outcast could be the perfect replacement for Ozil.
Yes, Ozil has been a steady performer for the Gunners but the player has often been labelled as lethargic and out of sync which is why there’s no doubt his days at the Emirates are numbered.
So if the Gunners can manage to bring in someone like Julian Draxler for just €24 odd million then it will be a perfect bit of business given the Gunners will be working on a very tight budget in the summer.
But it remains to be seen if Draxler would want to remain at PSG for one more year instead of joining a club who will possibly not be playing in the Champions League next season.
