Liverpool suffered the first defeat of the new season at the hands of Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

Liverpool went into the game with a number of their first players being rested by the manager despite which they took the lead thanks to a second-half strike from Daniel Sturridge.

But that single goal was not enough as Chelsea fought back and scored two goals through Emerson and Eden Hazard to tilt the tie in their favour.

While Jurgen Klopp is always known to be an animated character but even the Liverpool fans were a bit bewildered at what they saw.

Summer Xherdan Sharqiri started the game ahead of Mo Salah and the Swiss was easily one of the best Liverpool players on the pitch.

But despite that, Jurgen Klopp seemed to have a go at him after the final whistle.

A video footage has been circulating on social media where the Liverpool manager is seen arguing with Xherdan Shaqiri.

This video has caused a fair bit of stir amongst the fans with some claiming that Klopp was not happy with Shaqiri’s performance during the game.

But the manager has been quick to come out and clear the air saying that he was talking about a free kick that the player took during the dying moments of the game.

Jurgen Klopp said: “I spoke about a free-kick, the last one.

“We wanted to have Mo (Salah) a bit wider, so we had passed the ball to Mo, the whole bunch of players was in one direction – where we shot the ball, actually.

“But if we can send Mo into a one-on-one situation in the last situation of the game, it would have been not too bad. What I said was about the free-kick, nothing else.”

Liverpool will have a scope at revenge when they take on Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend and Klopp will undoubtedly name his strongest side given that a loss in this game could mean they can slip down from the top spot on the league table.
