Premier League Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool signed Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea in January 2013 and after having a couple of good seasons at Anfield the forward has slowly faded away into oblivion.

Constant injuries have prevented the 28-year-old from keeping his place in the first eleven and he was eventually loaned out to West Brom at the start of the new year where he failed to score a single goal in six appearances.

As soon as Daniel Sturridge was loaned out, the Liverpool fans knew that the striker’s career was more or less over at Anfield. But now it seems that he still might be relevant.

According to reports, Sturridge has claimed that he wishes to stay at Liverpool and fight for his place and manager Jurgen Klopp has reciprocated by giving the striker a chance to prove himself during pre-season.

But this opportunity for Daniel Sturridge might pose a problem for another Liverpool striker which is exactly what Rangers FC are hoping for.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has been in the pursuit of Reds striker Dominic Solanke for some time now but Klopp is playing the waiting game with the Liverpool legend.

Gerrard has recently claimed that even though signing a striker is not his biggest concern right now but is his current frontline fail to deliver then he will not shy away from bringing a new forward.

And it seems that Dominic Solanke fits the brief perfectly.

Solanke has failed to carve out a place for himself at Liverpool since his move to the club last summer and now if Daniel Sturridge is planning to stay at Anfield then surely Solanke will fall down the pecking order.

The Gers are hoping that such a scenario forces the 20-year-old to hand in a transfer request in which case they will be waiting to welcome Dominic Solanke with open arms.

Solanke though is not the only striker from Liverpool that Steven Gerrard is targetting as some reports claim that the Light Blues boss wants to sign Divock Origi on a season-long loan deal.

But getting Origi might prove a bit tough as compared to Dominic Solanke given the fact that Jurgen Klopp is not too keen to send the former out of Anfield for the next season.
