Jack Wilshere chose to part ways with Arsenal after years of service to the club and officially joined West Ham United last week.

After battling through a number of injuries during his time at the Emirates, Wilshere finally got back his rhythm last season under then manager Arsene Wenger and many believed that the club would offer him a new deal.

Even Wenger had claimed that the midfielder does have a long-term future at the club but all of those promises went down the drain after the 26-year-old revealed that he would not be renewing his contract with the club.

According to the reports, Jack Wilshere was even ready to take a pay cut in order to stay with Arsenal and all he wanted in return was a guaranteed first team start. But new boss Unai Emery refused to make that promise.

Now that Wilshere has joined his boyhood club, the midfielder has revealed what prompted him to take the hard decision to move out of the Emirates.

Jack Wilshere said“If I am playing well for West Ham week in, week out, I do not see why I should not be in the England squad.

“Gareth made it clear before the tournament that anyone can get selected as long as you are playing well and week in, week out.

“That is probably another reason why I wanted to stay in England and wanted to be playing in front of the England manager and be in the fans’ minds.”

Despite playing fairly well for Arsenal in the Premier League league last season, Wilshere was snubbed from the 23-man England squad that made it to the World Cup in Russia. But many believed that the midfielder showed the right characteristics in order to be selected.

But former Arsenal keeper David Seaman has claimed that Unai Emery’s biggest mistake since taking charge of the club was to sell of Jack Wilshere and on the contrary, many are claiming that this was Manuel Pellegrini best bid of business this summer.
