Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal during the summer transfer window.

And in the last week, Arsenal have seriously stepped up their interest in the Scotland international.

Arsenal have already made a bid of around £15 million but it was swiftly rejected by the Bhoys as Neil Lennon side want £25 million for the youngster.

The Gunners though will return with a new bid which is expected to be in the region of £18 million and they are hopeful that the Glasgow outfit will agree to this fee.

But recently TalkSport’s David Connolly had stated that Celtic should not make the mistake of selling Kieran Tierney for cheap – citing the example of Van Dijk.

“Look at some of the players that have left Celtic in the past,” said Connolly(as reported).

“For example Van Dijk – when he left for Saints for about £13m – in the end he’s gone to Liverpool for £75m-odd. I’m not saying Kieran Tierney is going to be the same, but £15m isn’t a lot for a player of his quality.

“I’m sure Celtic will be saying ‘you’ve got to pay his market value’, which is near enough at least double that, I would’ve thought.”

And now Chris Sutton has suggested the amount that Celtic should charge from Arsenal for the transfer of Kieran Tierney.

Sutton wrote on Twitter: “Not so long ago John Stones went for £50 million and Celtic sold Virgil Van Dijk for £13 million.

“Wan Bissaka £50 million to United. “Let’s hope if Celtic do sell Kieran Tierney they get a similar fee as he is every bit as good.”

We can understand why Sutton has made such a statement but Arsenal are working on a shoestring budget this season since they failed to qualify for the Champions League.

So if Celtic were to demand such huge sums for Keiran Tierney then Arsenal would just walk away and not return back this summer.
