Rangers FC signed Kyle Lafferty during the summer from Hearts and the forward made a decent start to life at the Ibrox.

But as the weeks have gone by, the 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under Steven Gerrard.

And when Rangers signed Jermain Defoe during the January transfer window it meant that Kyle Lafferty was now the third choice striker at Ibrox.

The arrival of Defoe meant that he and Alfredo Morelos were constant starters for the Gers and Kyle Lafferty was struggling for game time at the club.

While many believed that the situation will remain the same for the remainder of the season, Steven Gerrard though has now come out to claim that the 31-year-old will feature during the coming weeks.

“They[Defoe and Morelos] are two different types of players,” said the manager.

“They are obviously both very strong in front of goal, but they are very different, so we have to adapt to whoever it is that’s leading the line.

“We also have Kyle (Lafferty) in the running as well. We might decide to go down a different way

“That’s for me to work out in the coming days and weeks, but we are definitely in a stronger position when you think about what position we were in with just two strikers in the first six months.”

Kyle Lafferty has so far played 30 games for Rangers this season but has managed to score only six goals.

And while the striker will be happy that the manager still has faith in him but we cannot say the same about the fans.

The Gers are already six points behind Celtic who sit at the top of the table and during such a crunch time, the manager has to play his in-form players regularly.
