Kylian Mbappe is currently the talk of the town in Paris as PSG are desperate to get rid of him as early as possible with Real Madrid willing to sign him up.

PSG had tried really hard to make the winger sign a new deal but Mbappe’s entourage has made it clear that he wants to join Madrid this summer itself.

Kylian Mbappe has informed the Ligue 1 side that he will not trigger a one-year contract extension which means his current deal will expire in 2024 so instead of losing him a free agent, PSG are ready to offload him right now.

Why has Real Madrid still not been able to sign Kylian Mbappe?

Despite Mbappe entering the final 12 months of his contract, Madrid is ready to pay €200 million for the French international but it’s his loyalty bonus that’s the major stumbling block right now.

As per the terms of his deal, Kylian Mbappe is qualified to receive €90 million loyalty bonuses this summer from PSG and if he ends up staying beyond the month of July then the French side will have to pay him €60 million.

Now, as per fresh reports, Mbappe’s mother, Fayza Lamari, wants his son to pick up the loyalty bonus before agreeing to join Real Madrid.

PSG very clearly do not want to pay him the €90/60 million which is why they are desperate to push him out as soon as possible but it looks like Kylian Mbappe is not going to leave without filling up his pockets.

PSG seem to have dug their own game because if they are not ready to pay the loyalty bonus then Madrid will back off and sign Kylian Mbappe for free next summer which means the French club will miss out on a potential €200 million transfer fee.

PSG paid €180 million to Monaco in 2018 so if they do end up paying even a €60 million loyalty bonus, the Ligue 1 side will eventually lose money when they sell him to Real Madrid. Not to forget, over the previous five years, the player has picked up €6 million per month in the form of salary.

Real Madrid fully understands that the ball is in their court because no other club can afford to sign the 24-year-old but at the end of the day, they do not have any other option but to play the waiting game.

Spain’s La Liga summer transfer window will close on September 1 which means Madrid has enough time to get this deal done.

Mbappe to Real Madrid – Update:

PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has made his intentions very clear that Kylian Mbappe has been given a deadline before which he has to make a decision.

He said(as per Fabrizio Romano): “Kylian Mbappe has to decide next week or in two weeks. No more than this. If he does not want to sign a new contract, the door is open. No one is bigger than the club, no player, not even me. It’s very clear.”

Well, it’s evident by now that the World Cup winner is not going to sign a new contract as he has his heart set on joining Real Madrid. The only thing he and his team is now planning is how to get that massive loyalty bonus before packing his bags.
