Liverpool travel to London to take on West Ham United in the Premier League today and Jurgen Klopp could see the return of two of his key players in this match.

Midfielder Adam Lallana and forward Xherdan Shaqiri has been on the sideline with injuries for quite some time now but the duo could make a comeback at the London Stadium.

The Anfield outfit in their pre-match team news have updated that the duo will go through late fitness tests and if deemed fully fit could feature against the Hammers.

The report updates: “Liverpool will make checks on the fitness of both Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri ahead of the meeting with the Hammers, who are currently 17th in the league standings.

“Lallana has missed the past two matches due to a virus, while Shaqiri picked up a minor calf issue earlier this month.”

If these two players do return back to the fold then it will surely be a big boost for the Liverpool manager who can rest some of his players.

During the past couple of games, Liverpool have looked really leggy and one of the biggest reasons for that is players like Wijnaldum and Henderson have been overworked during the festive period.

So with the return of Lallana, at least one of them could get a much-deserved rest while Xherdan Shaqiri will add more depth to the forward line now that Sadio Mane has been ruled out of the match.

Apart from Sadio Mane, James Milner and Nathan Clyne also remain on the sidelines meaning the backline for Liverpool will get no respite and this could be a bit of a concern for Andy Robertson who has looked a bit shaky during the past couple of outings.
