Liverpool will head to the Molineux Stadium to take on Wolves in the Premier League this weekend and Jurgen Klopp will be hoping to keep the perfect run going.
Wolves have made a wobbly start to their 23/24 campaign with just three points from their first four matches whereas Liverpool are third on the EPL table with 10 points.
The Anfield outfit have a pretty solid record against Wolves but this Liverpool team is very wobbly and unpredictable so we can’t say for certain they will bulldoze through the home team. Klopp’s team are undefeated in their previous five matches and unless Wolverhampton Wanderers play out of their skin, Liverpool should be able to see this one through and pick up all three points.
Liverpool’s team news and injuries:
The first and obvious absentee will be Virgil Van Dijk who has been handed an extra one-match ban along with a £100,000 fine after admitting he acted improperly and used abusive words towards John Brooks.
The central defender’s absence will be a big worry for the Reds manager because Ibrahima Konate and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also nursing injuries.
If the right-back is absent on Saturday then Joe Gomez will move to the right-hand side and slot in but if Konate is not fit in time then it will be a major headache for the manager. If Konate and TAA are both unavailable on the weekend then Klopp will have to bring in 20-year-old Jarell Quansah into central defence.
Konate’s hamstring problem is not serious and if everything goes well, he should be ready in time for Saturday but in case he can’t recover then Jurgen Klopp will have to reshape his backline.
Thiago is also going to miss out because he’s sustained a setback in his rehab process. He did have the international break to get back into shape but we don’t think he will be 100% for the Wolves trip.
Currently, five top forwards are fighting for three positions in Liverpool’s attack and based on the team’s performances against Villa, Darwin Nunez should get a start.
Mo Salah will be one of the first names on the teamsheet but Luis Diaz could move to the bench, making way for Cody Gakpo out on the left-hand side. Jurgen Klopp has mostly relied on Diogo Jota as an impact sub and the Portugal international will have the same role this weekend as well.
