Liverpool picked up a 2-0 win over Brighton during the weekend meaning they have successfully maintained the pressure on league leaders Manchester City but they need to keep winning games if they wish to catch up with them.

Liverpool take on Arsenal in a midweek Premier League clash and at the start of the season, this would have been an easy three-pointer for Klopp’s side but over the previous few months, the Gunners are in peak form.

The Anfield outfit are undefeated in their last 7 matches against Arsenal in all competitions but Mikel Arteta’s side go into this encounter having won their previous five matches. The way Arsenal are playing right now, they can cause significant damage to Liverpool’s title challenge but we have a feeling Klopp’s side have the quality and firepower to see this one through.

This is going to be the fourth meeting between these two sides in the 2021/22 season and in the previous three matches, Arsenal have conceded six goals without a reply. Jurgen Klopp does have a few injury concerns going into this match but he has adequate backups at his disposal to not be worried.

Liverpool team news & possible absentees:

The manager had hinted at some possible positive cases before the Brighton game but in the end, none of his regular starters were missing so we expect all of them to be available for Wednesday’s game as well.

Ibrahima Konate is set to be an absentee due to a knock so Joel Matip will partner Van Dijk in central defence while Robertson and Alexander-Arnold hold onto his place.

Naby Keita had a disappointing outing against the Seagulls so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Thiago come into the side. Xhaka and Thomas Partey have been playing exceptionally well in Arsenal’s midfield which is why Klopp will need a passer like Thiago who can find intricate passes at will.

Mo Salah was forced off midway through the second half on Saturday and he remains a major doubt for the Arsenal vs Liverpool tie.

The manager said after the match: “We will see; he thinks it is not serious, but you can see when Mo is sitting down, something is not 100% right.

“I think it was the situation before when he shot, and it got blocked. The foot got slightly overstretched.”

Hopefully, the injury is not serious but if Mo Salah cannot be fit in time then Diogo Jota will likely be the one who occupies the position on the right-hand side with Mane playing as the false-nine.

Liverpool’s recent form and stats:

Liverpool have kept the most clean sheets(16) in the Premier League this season.

The Anfield outfit have been averaging 2.6 goals per game so far this campaign.

Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in 5 of their last 6 matches in the EPL.
