Liverpool are back in the Champions League this week as they take on Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Round of 16 at Anfield.

The Reds suffered a 1-0 loss in the first leg in Spain which was a bit of a setback for Jurgen Klopp but the German is not sweating too much since at home, they have been a force to reckon with and Liverpool are confident they should see this one through.

Having said this though, the manager is dealing with a couple of injury concerns and he could miss some of his key players during the midweek encounter.

While Liverpool picked up a 2-1 win against the Cherries this weekend, Atletico Madrid though suffered a setback in the La Liga as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Sevilla meaning Simeone’s side have now drawn three out their last five league matches.

Liverpool team news vs Atletico Madrid:

The first major problem for Klopp is with the muscle injury to Alisson Becker and the keeper has been ruled out from the Champions League clash this midweek.

Earlier this week, the manager had said: “I would say after the international break he is back 100 per cent, whatever we can get before that we will see.”

The absence of Alisson means Adrian will once again start in front of goal just like he did against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

Andy Robertson missed the Cherries game as James Milner played at left-back and right now there are fears that the Scottish international could miss the Champions League clash.

While Jurgen Klopp has not confirmed it but the full-back should be fit in time when the Spanish side comes to town.

The manager told his post-match press conference this weekend: “What I hear, it should be possible [for them to be available for Atletico]. If we then do it, I don’t know.

“Robbo should not be a problem; he only missed today pretty much. He finished the session yesterday and afterwards felt something, but it was then nothing in the end.”

Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez are guaranteed starters and if Robertson cannot make himself fit then it will once again be James Milner who will play at left-back.

Jordan Henderson has also been out of action with a thigh injury for the last couple of weeks and there are chances that the club captain too could make a comeback to the first XI in midweek.

If Hendo is not available for selection then Oxlade-Chamberlain will once again start in central midfield for the Anfield outfit.

Naby Keita and Minamino have both failed to impress meaning they will only find a place on the bench on Wednesday.

The front three for Liverpool more or less select themselves with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah playing on the wings while Roberto Firmino is slotted upfront.
