Liverpool have finally managed to win the Premier League title and on Thursday they head to the home of the former champions, Manchester City.
The Reds were crowned the champions when Manchester City lost to Chelsea last week and since then, it has been one big party for Jurgen Klopp and his players.
But the German knows fully well that the season still needs to be wrapped up and this is the exact reason why we think Klopp will name his strongest starting XI. Also because his top players would be itching to get that coveted guard of honour.
The last time these two sides met back in November, Liverpool won the match 3-1 and right now the Anfield outfit have won 35 of their last 38 matches, so clearly, the current champions will be going in as the favourites to win this encounter.
Liverpool team news vs Man City:
Alisson Becker will start in goal while Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez start in central defence. Joel Matip is yet to fully recover from his ankle injury and remains a doubt for this game.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson start as the first choice full-backs. James Milner picked up a thigh injury last week and the veteran will likely be ruled out.
Naby Keita has not been able to get a regular starting berth this season but some pundits think he could get a start now that Liverpool have wrapped up the title.
But we think the manager will not want to rotate his players in a game against Manchester City which is why Fabinho will start in defensive midfield while Henderson and Wijnaldum play a bit further upfront.
Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain could come into the side sometime in the second half as Jurgen Klopp will want to make use of all of his five substitutions.
Minamino has been really underwhelming since his arrival during the January transfer window and the Japanese will hopefully start on the bench at the Etihad on Thursday.
Xherdan Shaqiri is ruled out due to a calf injury meaning Mo Salah will operate on the right flank while Sadio Mane plays on the left-hand side.
Roberto Firmino will start up front but there’s also a chance the Brazilian could be replaced by Divock Origi.
