Sadio Mane to return to the EPL
Sadio Mane playing for Liverpool

Liverpool suffered a dampening 1-0 loss at the hands of Brighton in the Premier League on Wednesday and things could get even worse as they now prepare to face Man City this weekend.

The Reds have now suffered back-to-back home league defeats and with the number of injuries that Klopp’s had to deal with, the Reds manager could be looking at yet another setback.

Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the season have been riddled with injuries and the Liverpool boss could be without as many as eight first-team players this weekend.

The likes of Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez remain long-term absentees while players such as Sadio Mane and Alisson Becker will be touch and go.

Here’s Klopp’s full injury list for the Liverpool vs Man City game:

Alisson Becker – The Brazilian missed the Brighton game due to illness as Klopp told BT Sport, according to the club’s official website: “Ali is ill – [it’s] not Covid, thank God. Not seriously, but there was no chance. He woke up this morning and was not well and we couldn’t bring him.”

The goalkeeper might be touch and go for the Liverpool vs Man City game on Sunday.

Van Dijk – Ruled out with a knee injury.

Joe Gomez – Ruled out with a knee injury.

Naby Keita – Not expected to be fully fit for Sunday.

Joel Matip – Recently picked up an ankle injury and as per the reports, he’ll not play anymore this season.

Sadio Mane – Didn’t train will the team until Tuesday but he could be fit in time for the Liverpool vs Man City game.

Fabinho – Could be fit and available for selection this weekend.

Diogo Jota – Still recovering from his knee injury. He’s not going to be available for Sunday.

Sadio Mane, Alisson and Fabinho are expected to be fit in time for the City game but we doubt if Klopp will risk using any one of them if they are not a 100% fit.

City are currently the best team in England and the last thing the Liverpool boss will want to do is to select players who cannot give their best. But, on the other hand, if the Anfield outfit lose this match then they will stand very little chance of defending their Premier League crown which is why the German boss could also be ready to throw the kitchen sink on Sunday.
