Alisson Becker - Liverpool

Liverpool will take on Newcastle United in the Premier League this weekend and Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he will be without a few star players.

The German told the press that Naby Keita and Clyne and Glatzel are both long-term absentees but Naby Keita is close to making a comeback.

Alisson started light training earlier this week which gave a lot of hopes to the Liverpool fans regarding the possibility of him playing vs the Magpies.

But the manager has made it clear the Brazilian will not be making his first-team return before next month.

The manager told in his pre-match press conference(as reported): “Clyney (Nathaniel Clyne) and (Paul) Glatzel are still far away but doing big steps (towards playing again).

“Naby (Keita) is close and he could be back in training when we come back from Napoli (next week).

“Alisson is improving but we can’t put pressure on him. It is a serious calf injury but now it is much better. The target (for Alisson to come back) was always after the next international break (in October).

“To win the Champions League we didn’t change things, the boys are still the same, a good bunch of footballers and they’ll show it again tomorrow.

“We have to make sure we have a wonderful atmosphere in the squad and we work hard for that, we just try to improve all the time.

“We have to make sure that the day this record (13 Premier League wins in a row) is far away in the future.

“We have a chance to win tomorrow so we must do it.

“The international breaks are all difficult and you need to be lucky that they all come back healthy – the top six have more players busy in that period.

“Life without luck is difficult and football without it…it is a difficult battle. We accepted that long ago. Can you influence luck? Well, you can work for it. Newcastle did a lot of really good stuff against Tottenham.

“Newcastle will fight like crazy.”

VERDICT:

Liverpool have been coping with the absence of these players for some time now so we don’t think the manager will have any problem setting up his side vs Newcastle United.

And given that Mo Salah and co will be playing at home, Jurgen Klopp will obviously be using an ultra- attacking approach.
